Long-Term Load Forecasting Exchange with Sarawak Energy
Single Buyer’s Load Forecast Unit participated in a technical knowledge exchange session with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), focusing on long-term load and energy efficiency forecasting methodologies.
The session commenced with SEB presenting an overview of Sarawak’s electricity supply structure and its long-term forecasting framework. Single Buyer then outlined its end-use forecasting methodology applied in Peninsular Malaysia, detailing demand segmentation, energy efficiency assumptions and scenario modelling techniques embedded within its long-term planning process.
The engagement enabled comparative assessment of forecasting approaches, modelling parameters and planning assumptions across regions. Discussions also examined how demand-side measures and structural economic shifts are incorporated into long-term energy projections.
Through such technical exchanges, Single Buyer continues to refine forecasting precision and planning robustness, reinforcing the analytical foundations that underpin generation adequacy, resource optimisation and market transparency within Malaysia’s evolving electricity landscape. Further sessions are envisaged to deepen collaboration in specialised areas of demand modelling and system planning.
